Donna Cherry Donna Cherry is a partner at the firm and is very much the "camp mother". Donna brings with her a variety of life experiences with more then 18 years in the UK as a Registered Nurse in operating theatres of various major teaching hospitals in London. She was also teaching/training operating theatre nurses and technicians for the latter years of her nursing career there.
Being business minded, she was naturally drawn into business and consequently, for her last 3 years in the UK she worked as a co-owner/director of a successful Travel Agency and a Property Management business, both later sold off before leaving the UK to move to New Zealand 19 years ago.
Since being in New Zealand Donna has completed a double degree in Law and a Bachelor of Nursing and practiced in both professions, retiring from nursing in 2007 and has continued her career with the legal profession.
Donna's areas of practice include Criminal, Mental Health, Employment, Immigration, Traffic and Family Law litigation mostly.
Donna does a lot of voluntary work in her spare time and as a practicing Christian, is actively involved in her church. Her pride and joy are her two little granddaughters. She is a keen supporter of organisations promoting prevention of cruelty to animals.

Stephen Kannangara Stephen was born in Singapore and came to New Zealand to study law. He was admitted to the bar as a Barrister and Solicitor in 1987. He practiced in New Zealand till 1991. He spent a short time practicing law in Papua New Guinea. Thereafter, he was admitted as a Solicitor of England and Wales in 1992. He was also admitted to the bar in Singapore, where he practiced law until 1996. He then returned to New Zealand with his family.
Stephen has been involved in various aspects of the law including Litigation, Criminal Law, Commercial, Employment, Finance, Immigration, Mortgagee Sales, Family Trust , Probate and Administration, Franchising and Property Conveyancing. Within the firm Stephen does the Commercial, Property Conveyancing, Francising and Employment matters.
His outside interests include cooking, tramping, fishing, camping and traveling

D'Arcy Thomson D’Arcy graduated from Otago University with an Honours degree in law, after careers in New Zealand’s early IT industry and the RNZAF.
He has joined Cherry Kannangara Thomson as a partner after forging a successful niche in the legal profession specialising in the formation of LAQC’s, Family Trusts and Residential Conveyancing.
The firm’s unique approach to client care includes a pro-active response to clients needs including assessments of each client’s risk profile. This includes wills, property agreements, limited liability Company Structures, and enduring Powers of Attorney.

Steve Bray Steve has been practising law for almost 20 years. He specialises in Commercial and Residential conveyancing, Wills, Trusts, Estate Administration and Elder law.
He has 3 daughters, is very family oriented and takes great delight in spending time with his children. This reflects in the easy rapport he has with clients and his personal and professional committment to them.
Steve enjoys sports and still maintains an involvement in both cricket and touch rugby.

John Yoon John was admitted to the bar in 2002 and joined Cherry Kannangara Thomson as a partner in 2009. John specalises in immigration, residential and commercial conveyancing as well as company and commercial law.
He graduated from Canterbury University with a law degree and completed his Masters of Law at Duke University in the USA. John has extensive experience in all types of immigration work. This includes complex applications such as appeals to the Resident Review Board, Section 35A applications, and character and medical waivers. He fully understands immigration law and how it can impact the lives, goals and aspirations of his clients.
John is originally from South Korea but left when he was young and has since lived in Papua New Guinea, Australia, America and New Zealand. He is fluent in both English and Korean languages. John is married with one daughter. He enjoys sports and his hobbies are painting and building.

Carol Hannagan
Carol graduated from Otago University in 1999 and joined Cherry Kannangara Thomson as a partner on 1 March 2010. She has a wide range of experience which includes business, property, estate planning, environmental law together with family and civil litigation.
In the past few years Carol has especially enjoyed helping clients achieve their goals and get ahead by combining her skills in the areas of company law, trusts, relationship property and conveyancing. She has also developed her interest in the area of alternative dispute resolution by training as a mediator.
Outside interests include scuba diving, Reiki, tramping, martial arts, dancing and travel.
